The family of John Francis Rovert will receive friends on Friday January 29th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Rd. Niagara Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY at the convenience of the family.

John, age 48, of Fredericksburg, VA died on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Mary Washington Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Ann F. (Foti) Rovert of Niagara Falls, NY and the late John Rovert. He attended local schools and was a graduate of LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls and later Niagara University in Lewiston, NY. John moved to Virginia in 1985 and was currently employed as a computer scientist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren. He was an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan, and most importantly a devoted son, and a generous brother, uncle and friend.

In addition to his mother, John is survived by his two sisters, Rosanne (Wael) Alomar of Palmdale, CA and Christina (Roberto) Bacca of Bristow, VA; two nieces, Andrea and Tatiana Bacca; two nephews, Talal and Sammy Alomar and extended family in the Niagara Falls area. He was also predeceased by his brother David Rovert.

John was a long-term cancer survivor, having been first diagnosed and treated at age 9. Therefore, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute c/o Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, Elm and Carlton Streets Buffalo, NY 14263.
