John J. Sasyn, 79 of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on October 13, 2017 at his residence while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Antoniowka Nowa, Poland, he was the son of the late Walenty and Katarzyna (Paszt) Sasyn.
John immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 11, and settled in Weirton, WV. He began a twenty-one-year career in the United States Air Force in 1956 and served until his honorable discharge in 1977. Early in his career, John was stationed in Niagara Falls, NY where he met and married Llewellyn F. (Davis-Maracle) on June 13, 1964 at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls. Following his retirement from the Air Force, John went on to work at Harrison Radiator/Delphi Corporation in Lockport, NY until retiring in 2003. John had a passion for working in his garden, but his greatest pleasure was providing for and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, John is survived by two children, Carl C. (Raquel) Sasyn and Amy K. (Jermaine Blackman, Sr.) Sasyn, five grandchildren, Ciara Sasyn, Franklin Sasyn, Jalen Garrison, Zahra Sasyn and Jermaine Blackman, Jr., two great-grandchildren, Julieanna Garrison and Paris Coleman, two sisters, Mary Zajac and Czesia Orlowski, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 - 5 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday October 16 th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church 1055 North Military Road Niagara Falls, concluding with Military Honors. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held in Acacia Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice House 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14094.
