John Tweedie, 87, of Lewiston, NY passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late William and Lizzie (Bryson) Tweedie.

John was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School in 1948. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. On May 21, 1955, he married Esther (Previte) Tweedie in Niagara Falls, NY.   Mrs. Tweedie predeceased him on August 17, 2015.

John was employed as a sales representative for local companies including Hysen Supply, Combraco Industries, and Stritt & Priebe. He then became a real estate agent at Johnson Salisbury and later at Reality U.S.A until his retirement. Mr. Tweedie was a longtime member of the Lewiston Kiwanis Club, where he received the Kiwanian of the Year Award in 1992. He was a longstanding member of the Niagara Frontier Golf Club, the Niagara Falls Y.M.C.A, and LaSalle Sportsman Club. He was also formerly active with the Boy Scout Troop #872 alongside his son, Robert.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed square dancing with his wife and traveling with his family. He was an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed vacationing with his buddies on annual bowling and golf trips. He was also a season ticket holder and fan of the Buffalo Sabres.

John is survived by four children, William (Rita) Tweedie, Karen (Brian) Oakley, Kim (Paul) Fitch and Robert (Donna) Tweedie; eight grandchildren, Ian (Alison) Tweedie, Kelly (Dennis) Sincebaugh, Anne (Kevin) Burgess, Katherine Petrozzi, Braiden Oakley, Tyler Oakley, Taylor Fitch and Cameron Fitch; his brother Hugh (Eileen) Tweedie, one sister-in-law, Alberta (James) Bodecker and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Tweedie was predeceased by two brother-in-laws, Peter (Elaine) Previte and Anthony (Ellen) Previte.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 1 ^st from 3 – 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 9:30 A.M. St. Peter's R.C. Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Complete Senior Care PACE, 1302 Main Street, Niagara Falls, NY.
