Jose A. Cota, 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on March 9, 2025 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.  Born in Teirceira, Azores, he was the son of the late Jose and Gleurmania (Mendoza) Cota.

Jose was educated in the Azores and served in the Portuguese Army. In July of 1975, he married Maria M. (Airoso) Cota in the Azores.  Mrs. Cota predeceased him on May 9, 2021.  Shortly after their marriage, they came to the United States, settling first in Massachusetts and later coming to the Niagara Falls area.

Jose was employed for over 20 years as an equipment operator with Lardon Construction Corp. in Blasdell, NY until his retirement in 2015.  An extremely hardworking man, he enjoyed woodworking and crafting and working around his house and garage.  Jose's loving canine companion, Sarg, never left his side.  Above all, Jose's family was the most important part of his life, and he will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Jose is survived by his sons, Tommy Cota and Michael (Cidalia) Cota; his grandchildren, Michael Cota, Eric Cota, and Andre Cota; his siblings, George (Leutina) Cota, Concisou (Herculano) Costa, and Lucelina Cota, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his wife of 45 years, he was predeceased by his brother, Gudas Tadeu (Maria) Cota.
