Loving Son, Brother, Nephew, Cousin and Friend

Joseph A. 'Joey' Gariano, 29, of Lewiston, NY passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 23, 2015. Born in Lewiston, NY he was the son of Joseph S. and Carol A. (Garabedian) Gariano.

Joey, as he was known to family and friends, was a lifelong resident of Lewiston, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from Lewiston Porter High School in 2005. While in high school he was a member of both the junior varsity and varsity hockey and baseball teams. Joey was employed at N.F. Memorial Medical Center as an aide in mental health and also worked at various collection agencies in Williamsville, NY. He recently became employed as a laborer in the heating and cooling industry. Joey was a sports enthusiast and an avid fan of the Buffalo Sabres, N.Y. Yankees and Buffalo Bills. At the young age of five, he began playing both baseball and hockey and participated in area leagues including the Grand Niagara League and the LaSalle, Whirlpool and Youngstown Recreation Leagues. He loved following his cousin, David's, baseball career. Joey also enjoyed golfing with his friends and his Uncle Nunzio.

In addition to his parents, Joseph is survived by his brother Nicholas J. Gariano of Lewiston, NY; his aunts and uncles; late Angela (Nunzio) LaVerdi, Thomas (Hon. Kathleen Wojtaszek-Gariano) Gariano and Larry Garabedian; his godparents Joseph and Teresa Ruffolo, many other aunts, uncles and cousins and his dog, Lexi. He was the grandson of the late Joseph (late Anne) Garabedian and the late Frank (late Jane) Gariano.

Visitation will be on Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY concluding with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay O.S.F.S officiating. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
