Obituary

Joseph B. Archie, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2020 surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Samuel and Jessie (Magenti) Archie; and loving husband of Mary Rose (Marazzo) Archie, whom he married on February 4, 1956 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Joseph was a 1952 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He enlisted into the United States Army and served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was employed at the Carborundum Company Globar Division for many years until his retirement.

Joseph was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church. He was also the Post Commander #42 of the Italian-American War Veterans, an officer of the Cataract Lodge #240, a member of the ISDA Volare Lodge #269, and a devoted member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society. He was also an excellent bowler and a lifelong, avid fan of the New York Yankees, who he knew everything about. Above all, centered his life around his family whom will miss him greatly.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, Mr. Archie is survived by his children, Samuel F. (Jeannette) Archie, Theresa (Ronald) Porter, Mary Jo (Dennis) Blackmore, Patrina (Louis J.) Leo, Margaret (Alexander) Gross, and was predeceased by his cherished young son, Frank Joseph Archie. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Eric Archie, Nicholas (Diana) Archie, Joseph Wyban, Anthony Wyban, Frank Porter, Marc Porter, Dylan (Kendall) Reed, Tyler (Ashly) Reed, Bryce Reed, Kelsi (Joseph) Ditto, Carli Leo and Serena Gross; his great-grandchildren, Santino Archie, Kayleigh Reed, Kennedy Reed, Carmella Ditto, Sienna Ditto, Tyler Reed, Jr., Jonah Wyban, Ethan Wyban and Jameison Wyban; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles (Linda) Marazzo, and Natale "Christy" (Darla) Marazzo, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 18 from 4 – 7 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Archie's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 A.M. in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls. Please assemble at church. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial offerings may be made to Holy Family Parish or Niagara Hospice. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
