Obituary
Joseph 'Joe' Bruno, 77, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Patrick and Angeline (Surage) Bruno.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1955. His father owned a gas station for many years and from a very early age Joe acquired a keen interest in cars from working alongside his dad. He was employed as a mechanic and gained knowledge about the operations of a service station. In 1962, Joe followed in his dad's footsteps and became the owner of his own gas station, Bruno's Mobil Station on Pine Avenue which he managed for more than fifty years. During that time, his station became like a second home for him and from 1990 through 1993 Bruno's Mobil was the number one dealer in the country. On October 19, 1998 he married his loving companion Elena (DiLaura) Bruno in Las Vegas, NV. Joe was a lifetime member of the Sertoma Club. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved spending time with his dog "Little Louie," whom will miss him dearly.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by four children Vicki (Larry Geracitano, Jr.) Kinan, Angel Alexis, Angela (Ray) Bruno-Casale, Scott Bruno and was predeceased by his son Joseph Bruno. He is also survived by his grandchildren Amber Kinan, Larry Geracitano, Patrick Lorenti, Rose Lorenti, Matthew Alexis and Rylie Alexis, Chantel Bruno, Anthony Bruno and Joey Bruno; three great grandchildren; two sisters Anita D'Amura and Patricia (Robert) Augustino, one brother Robert (Patricia) Bruno; father-in-law, John "Jack" DiLaura; sisters-in-law, MaryJo (Larrie)Dawkins and Marguerite (Jack) Hicks; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Lori) DiLaura and Moe (Donna) DiLaura; dear friends Gus Fotus, Neal Witbeck and Sam Civiletto; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd at 10 a.m. with Rev. Duane R. Klizek officiating. Entombment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
