Loving Husband, Father, Gradfather and Papa

Joseph M. Casal, 81, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Friday October 11, 2013 at his residence under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Jose' and Josephine (Reele) Casal.

Joseph was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. On November 30, 1958 he married Shirley (Barone) Casal. He was a member of the Laborers' Local #91 Union in Niagara Falls, NY and worked at various area construction sites including the Niagara Power Project until retiring in 1994. He was very proud of being a recipient of a fifty year membership award from the Local 91. In his leisure time he enjoyed dancing and listening to the music of Frank Sinatra, horseraces, OTB and card playing. He also liked making his great homemade pizza. But most of all, Joseph loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the love of his life.

In addition to his wife of fifty four years, Joseph is survived by his beloved children Maria (Garry) Kling of Lockport, NY; James J. Havens of Olean, NY and Charles J. (Jennifer) Casal of Niagara Falls, NY; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Carol (Robert) Marcucci and Laurice (Kevin) Mahoney. A special angel Cynthia (Dan) Mort and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers Serefin (Sylvia) Casal of Niagara Falls, NY, Ramon (Cosimino) Casal of Lockport, NY and Peter (Lillian) Casal of North Tonawanda, NY. And Grandson Justin Kraft.

Visitation will be on Monday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday October 15th at 10 a.m. in St. John De LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Slawomir Siok, SAC officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
