Joseph A. "Chubby" Marinello, Sr., 78, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY.  Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Cicco) Marinello.

Joseph, known to all by "Chubby", was raised in Niagara Falls and attended local schools.  On May 22, 1965, he married the love of his life, Christine R. (DeFazio) Marinello, and they recently celebrated 55 years together.  Chubby worked at numerous automotive facilities until he founded Niagara Towing in 1967.  He then became co-owner of Baldassara Collison in 1980 with his longtime friend, Roger McKenzie.

Chubby was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved going to his camp in the Southern Tier with his children and grandchildren.  In addition, he was a skilled bocce player, winning several championships with his team.  He enjoyed Jackie Gleason from the The Honeymooners and was an enthusiastic Honeymooners collector.

Chubby loved to travel the world with his beloved wife and travel companions Joe and Pat Colavecchia.  He enjoyed meeting his buddies for coffee at Knacks, Wednesday Como Nights, and going to the gym at Presti Karate Studio.  Chubby loved life to the fullest, loved people, telling stories, and always had a joke to tell.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Chubby is survived by his children, Joelle (David) Stapleton and Joseph (Erin) Marinello, Jr; grandchildren, Nicholas and Breanna Stapleton, Aidan, Adriana, Joseph III and Jolie Marinello, as well as several nieces and cousins.  He was predeceased by his brother, Charles "Tiny" (late Carmella) Marinello.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, from 3 – 7  PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304. Due to current circumstances, building capacity will be monitored to adhere with current regulations.  Chubby's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.  Everyone please assemble at church.  Interment to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.   Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
