Obituary

Joseph Anthony D’Angelis, 64, of Lockport, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on March 2, 2026. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Nancy (Trapasso) D’Angelis and the late Paul D’Angelis. He was the beloved husband of Kimberly A. (Mutka) D’Angelis, whom he married on August 22, 2015.

Growing up in Niagara Falls, Joseph attended local schools before enlisting in the United States Army, where he proudly served as a Medic. He served honorably from 1983 to 1984 and again from 1990 to 1991 during Operation Desert Storm, accumulating 15 years of service as a reservist. He later earned a B.A. in Speech Therapy from Buffalo State University. Joseph worked as a speech therapist in Azle, TX, then as a group director for People Inc. in Niagara Falls, and ultimately spent 15 years in the IT Department at Paychex in Amherst, NY, until his retirement.

Joseph had a deep love for classic cars—especially his ’67 Chevy—and could often be found at local car shows with his wife, Kim. He also had a special fondness for giraffes, visiting zoos across the country to observe and feed them. A passionate music enthusiast, Joseph was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed boxing, particularly admiring Muhammad Ali, whose courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease served as an inspiration to him. Above all, Joseph cherished his family and treasured every moment spent with them.

In addition to his devoted wife and mother, Joseph is survived by his daughter, Lauren Rick; stepchildren, Ian and Jackie Robert; brothers, Paul (Kathy) D’Angelis, Jr., and Dr. Christopher (Holly) D’Angelis; grandchildren, Hunter, Olivia, Graham, and Nolan; his niece, Elizabeth D’Angelis; his best friends, Bill Simpson, Butch Hickey, and Les Goodwill; and his beloved dog, Sammi. He is also survived by many cousins, friends, and colleagues. Along with his father, Joseph was sadly predeceased by his sons, Christopher and David D’Angelis, and his sister, Maria D’Angelis.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, from 2 – 4 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, where a funeral service will follow at 4 PM, concluding with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at The Parkinson's Foundation. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
