Joseph Samuel Conti, 70, of Youngstown, NY passed away peacefully Thursday July 29, 2010 at his home. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Eva (Bonaro) Conti.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Irene Elizabeth (Boniello) Conti; sadly missed by his daughter Elizabeth I. (Terence) Scheurer, Esq.; and sons Joseph S. (Michelle) Conti; and Christopher A. Conti, MD. Papa Joe was the proud grandfather of Terence, Jr., Spencer, and Sophia. Joseph is survived by brothers, Dennis (Patti) Conti and Samuel (Elaine) Conti and sisters, Verna (late Thomas) Bruno, Kathleen (John) Zankowski, and Christina (Timothy) Payne. Loving brother in law to Marianne (Samual,Esq.) Civiletto; David (Kathleen) Boniello,Esq.; Honorable Ralph (Kathleen) Boniello and Dorothea (Ronald) Daigle,Esq. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Joseph attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1958, continuing to serve on the reunion committee for over 50 years. While in high school he was a New York State Champion Diver and a loyal member of Gamma Delta Psi Fraternity. He attended Niagara University and graduated from St. John's University Law School in New York City. Joseph was a practicing attorney for 44 years and an active member of the New York State Bar Association. Joseph started out his professional career as a public defender of Niagara County and then became a partner in the Law Firm of Boniello, Anton, Conti, and Boniello. Later, he opened his own legal practice and was an agent of Stewart Title Insurance Company for 22 years. Joseph successfully argued before the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit and was past President of the Niagara County Bar Association.
Prior to his time as a prominent local attorney he served in the United States Army National Guard for 8 years. Joseph was an avid golfer, member and counsel for the Niagara Frontier Country Club, and a proud winner of the Toby Lyons Golf Tournament. He was an amateur gourmet chef, world traveler, and a proud member of the Italian American Gourmet Dinner Club. Some of Joe's happiest times were spent entertaining and relaxing poolside with his wife, family and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 – 7 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday August 2nd at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
