Joseph S. Fantrazzo, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Saturday February 18, 2012 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Calogera and Crocefissa (Ciraulo) Fantauzzo. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis M. (Paonessa) Fantrazzo, who he married on June 28, 1941 at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and also in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged on March 26, 1945. In 1977 Joe retired as a storeroom manager from Occidental Chemical Co., formerly known as Hooker Chemical Co. and Oldbury Chemical Co. in Niagara Falls, NY. He and his wife enjoyed traveling together and in his younger years Joe was an avid photographer. He also liked dancing, walking, jogging and fishing. Joe had an ardent devotion to his faith and praying the rosary.
Mr. Fantrazzo is survived by one sister Mary (late Tony) Oliver of Lewiston, NY and was predeceased by five brothers Charles (Betty of Niagara Falls, NY) Fantrazzo, Samuel (late Bernice) Fantrazzo, Dominic (late Freda) Fantrazzo, Angelo (late Rose) Fantrazzo, Frank Fantrazzo and two sisters Freda Dolce and Antonette (late George) Ayotte. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where services will begin on Thursday February 23rd at 11:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in St. Vincent DePaulParish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls NY with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, 1023 Swann Road, Youngstown, NY 14174.
