Joseph L. Lepiano, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Saturday July 16, 2011 at Lexington Health Care Center in Lexington, MA. Born in Cutro, Calabria, Italy, he was the son of the late Francesco and Giuseppina (Iembo) Lepiano.
Joseph came to Niagara Falls with his family at age eleven, and during World War II he served in the United States Army Air Corps. On October 9, 1946 he married Mary A. (Brucato) Lepiano at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Lepiano predeceased him on June 14, 2008. Joseph worked in the shipping department at the Globar Division of Carborundum Corporation in Niagara Falls for over 32 years. He was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society, American Legion Frederick F. Cadille Post 1664, and John Duke Senior Center all in Niagara Falls, for many years. In his leisure he enjoyed playing cards and tending to his garden.
Joe always had a smile and a joke for everyone he encountered. He will always be cherished and adored by his children and grandchildren. His charming nature endeared him to the many who knew him.
Survivors include his three children Joanne (Jim) Poage of Lexington, MA, Joseph A. Lepiano of Toronto, ONT, and Dorothy (late Steve) Czyzewski of St. Catharines, ONT. He was predeceased by infant daughter Gloria L. Lepiano. Joe is also survived by eight grandchildren Jennifer, Jeffrey and Jonathon Poage, Zoe and Leo Lepiano, Nicholas, Justine, and Christopher Czyzewski, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother James (late Marie) Lepiano, and a sister Mary (late Anthony) D'Amore.
Visitation will be on Friday from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday July 23rd at 9:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
