Joseph L. Lozina, 95, died peacefully surrounded by his family on September 14, 2021 at Our Lady of Peace Skilled Nursing Facility.  Born December 2, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Peter and Teresa (Settina) Lozina.

Joseph attended local schools and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School.  After graduation, he served in the United States Navy on Guam from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946.  Later, he studied Chemistry at the University of Buffalo, receiving his Master's Degree in 1953.

Mr. Lozina started his teaching career at LaSalle Jr. – Sr. High School.  In 1956, he transferred to Trott Vocational High School, where he retired in 1987.  He also worked for the New York State Department of Education writing Regent's exams and curriculums for Chemistry.  During his tenure at Trott, he coached football, basketball, bowling and golf.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Teresa Lozina.  He is survived by his daughter, Joan (late Willard) Caldwell, and his son, Joseph P. (Cheri) Lozina; his grandchildren, Dr. William (Dr. Diana) Caldwell, Dr. Jennifer (David LaComb) Caldwell, Joseph G. Lozina, Anthony J. Lozina, and James Tobey; his great-grandchildren, William Caldwell, Isabella Caldwell, and Haley Tobey; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his infant children, Joseph George Lozina and Joeann Lozina; as well as his sisters, Doris Smiech and Angelina Alvarez; and his brothers, Peter Lozina, Louis Berdick and Frank Berdick.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19th from 12 – 3 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304.  Joseph's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 AM at St. Peter RC Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY 14092.   Everyone please assemble at church.
