Joseph P. Ocejo, Ret. Capt. NFFD, 86, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on November 2, 2022 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Gonzalez) Ocejo.

Joe was a 1954 graduate of Trott Vocational High School.  He served proudly in the United States Army from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1962.  Joe was a Firefighter for 31 years with the Niagara Falls Fire Department, retiring as Captain in 1996.  He was also employed as a remodeling carpenter specializing in kitchens and baths with L&S Builders and Aragain Kitchens in Niagara Falls, NY.  Joe was also the co-proprietor of Iron-Works Fitness, which he operated with his sons during the 1990's until 2001.  Joe was the co-founder of the Niagara Falls Firefighters' Honor Guard, was involved with various Unions, served as the chairperson of the Fireman's Ball and was the grillmaster for their picnics.  Known affectionately as 'Spic' by many, Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing in addition to his passion for carpentry.

Joe is survived by his wife, Patricia M. (McGee) Ocejo; his children, Joseph E. Ocejo, David J. Ocejo and Debra (James Delaney) Ocejo; his grandchildren, Samantha, Kylie, and Landon, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Joe was predeceased by an infant daughter, Barbara Ocejo, as well as his siblings Marie (late James, NFFD) Trane and James Ocejo.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 7 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304.  Joseph's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY 14092.  Everyone please assemble at church.    Inurnment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY, will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Niagara Falls Firefighters' Christmas Toy Fund, P.O.
