Obituary

Joseph 'Razz' Rizzuto 88, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Friday January 9, 2015 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Gaetano and Antoinette (D'Amico) Rizzuto.

Razz as he was affectionately known by family and friends was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. He attended local schools including Trott Vocational High School. He served in the United States Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1956. On January 30, 1965, he married Lena (Luciani) Rizzuto at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Rizzuto predeceased him in 1999. For forty six years he worked at the Nabisco Shredded Wheat Co. in Niagara Falls starting off in the shipping gang, and later as a painter until his retirement in 1988. Joe was a talented woodworker and carpenter, and was proud of the fact he built his own home. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Joe was a member of the American Legion LaSalle Post 1142 in Niagara Falls and the Nabisco Retiree Club. Most off all, Joe will be remembered for his great sense of humor and laughter.

Mr. Rizzuto is survived by his two daughters; Caroline M. (Chris) Privitera of Niagara Falls, NY and Ann Marie (Tony) LaGreca of Wheatfield, NY, five grandchildren; Sarah Privitera, Christopher Privitera, Joseph Privitera, Nicole Walker and Anthony LaGreca as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by two sisters and four brothers; Jennie (late Casper) Cipolla, Florence (Joseph of Niagara Falls, NY) Maggi, Charles (late Jeanette) Rizzuto, Michael (late Doris) Rizzuto, James (late Marion) Rizzuto and Samuel (late Christine) Rizzuto.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Tuesday January 13th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church 1055 North Military Road Niagara Falls, NY concluding with Military Honors. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation P. O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265 or the Society of St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry 1040 Cayuga Drive Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
