Joseph R. Swain (aka Big Joe), 36, of the Town of Tonawanda, NY passed away suddenly, Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Kenmore, NY. He was the son of the late Terry D. and Maryann O'Connor (Swain) of Tonawanda, NY. Grandson of Edna (late Robert) Smith of MI and the late Joseph and Elizabeth O'Connor.

Joseph graduated from Kenmore East High School in 1997and attended Niagara University. He was currently working for Federal Express in the International shipping department and previously worked for United Health Group both of Tonawanda, NY.

A man who seemed bigger than life itself, his ever-present smile and easy going nature Joe easily attracted people who more times than not became longtime friends. Of the many things he enjoyed, nothing took a higher importance than his family and friends. In a life cut short way too early, Joe had managed to touch hundreds of souls, each in their own unique way. He will be sorely missed by each and every one of us, who has had the honor of knowing him and his selfless heart.

Loving brother of Terry (Jennifer) Swain of MN, Santrell (Jackie) Green of GA, Noelle Swain (Cletus Fleischer) of Amherst, NY, Elijah Swain and Emanuel Swain both of Buffalo, NY. Joseph is also survived by aunts, uncles several nieces and nephews including Kristopher, Connor, Shelby and Davey and several cousins and hundreds of friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-9 pm at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, July 9th at 10:45 am at St. John the Baptist Church, 1085 Englewood, Kenmore, NY. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna, NY.
