Josephine M. (Sgroi) Martino, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday August 8, 2013while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Michael and Vincenzina Sgroi.

Josephine was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. On July 4, 1941 she married Charles Martino Sr. at St. John De LaSalle Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Martino predeceased her on April 16, 1987. Josephine was a faithful Catholic and longtime devout member of St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. She was very fashionable and enjoyed shopping. Josephine also enjoyed cooking, baking swimming, dancing, playing bocce, bowling, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Mrs. Martino is survived by her four children, Bernadette (Salvatore 'Sonny') Sabia of Jupiter, FL; Vincenette (Donald) Schaefer of West Palm Beach, FL; Janet (late Robert) Allard of North Tonawanda, NY; Charles (late Jane) Martino, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY and was predeceased by one daughter Lisa (Robert of Niagara Falls, NY) Peterson. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Janelle, Deanna, Mark, Bill, Jenny, Rachel, Rebecca, Danielle, Michael, Renee and Robert, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Samuel (late Sarah) Sgroi, Lawrence (late Rose) Sgroi, Carmella (late Natale) DiDomizio, Pasqualina (late Augustino) Nardone, Frances (late Joseph) Scozzafava and Rose (late Salvatore 'Sam') Sgroi.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 – 6 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Monday August 12th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY.
