Josephine E. Minervino, 98, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace Health Care Facility in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ignazio and Marianna (Follone) Brucato.
Josephine was a 1943 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and she was a WAVE with the US Navy Air Reserve. On December 1, 1951, she married Gennaro "Tom" Tommaso Minervino in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Minervino predeceased her on May 25, 2016 after 64 years of marriage.
A devout Catholic, Josephine was a member of St. Joseph Church, where she was a member of the Madonna Del Perpetuo Soccorso Society, St. Joseph's Senior Society, and served as a Eucharistic Minister to those who were homebound. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #247 Women's Auxiliary, and the Cristoforo Colombo Society Women's Auxiliary. Josephine was employed for 20 years in clerical work for Wendt's Dairy.
She enjoyed spending time at the John Duke Senior Center with her husband, where they enjoyed many activities including playing and teaching bocce. Josephine will be remembered for her loving and compassionate nature. Above all, she cherished getting together with her children and grandchildren every Sunday for a home cooked meal and card games.
Josephine is survived by her children, James I. Minervino, Maryann (Robert) Taibi and Louisa (James) Fasciano; grandchildren, Kyle (Robert) Minervino-McCartney, Kurt Minervino, Thomas "TJ" Altobello, Craig (Julie) Altobello, Mary Jo Altobello, Benjamin (Kristin Pedaci) Neubauer and Jacob (Angela) Neubauer; step-grandchildren, Lance (Hillary) Fasciano and Lisa Fasciano; nine great-grandchildren, her sister, Janet (late Edward) Weisse as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Paul (late Pamela) Brucato, Pasqualina (late Sam) Collura, Mary (late Joseph) Lepiano, and Angelo (late Mary Alice) Brucato.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Our Lady of Peace Health Care Facility for the compassion and care shown to Josephine and her family during her time there.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18 from 9:15 – 11:15 AM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, where funeral services will begin at 11:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Holy Family Parish of St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls.
