Josephine A. (Alaimo) Pierce, 96, of Lewiston, NY died on Sunday September 13, 2009 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Chambersville, PA she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine (Dimino) Alaimo.

Jo came to Niagara Falls as a child with her family and attended local schools. On October 7, 1942 she married Ross Dyment Pierce in Harrison County, Mississippi. Following their marriage, they resided in Texas and Washington before returning to Niagara Falls, NY in the early 1950's and to Lewiston in the 1960's where she currently resided. Mr. Pierce predeceased her on April 28, 2006. Jo was employed as a secretary for Mac Friedman and U-Haul & Rich both in Niagara Falls, NY. She was later employed with Thomas Hibbard Engineers in Niagara Falls, NY as an office manager and retired in 1978. Jo was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #313 Women's Auxiliary in Youngstown, NY. In her leisure time, Jo enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and traveling throughout the country, where took great pleasure in visiting the local casinos.

Mrs. Pierce is survived by two daughters, Mary Frances (Robert) Wawro of Youngstown, NY and Susan Pierce (Stuart) Keck of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Rodney Wawro and Elizabeth (Bryan) Hall, one sister Florence Rodriguez of Kennewick, WA and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by one brother Charles (late Josephine) Alaimo and five sisters, Mary Alaimo, Martha (late Frank) Meogrossi, Arlene (late Victor) Presutti, Helen (late Albert) Jacobs and Lorraine (late Donald) Logg.

Because of the excellent care given by her grandson, Rodney, Jo was able to stay in her own home.

Friends may call on Thursday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial on Friday September 18th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Sebastian Pierro officiating. EVERYONRE WILL ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Flowers are graciously declined.
