Josephine C. (Trombetta) Zykas, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Monday December 29, 2014 at Niagara Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Caroline (Ladota) Trombetta.
Josephine was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. On September 16, 1942 she married John J. Zykas at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Zykas predeceased her last month on November 21, 2014. Josephine worked in her family's business, the Capital Sweet Shop in Niagara Falls. She was a member of the Anime Sante Del Purgatorio Society of St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, and in her leisure time enjoyed hunting and going to the movies.
Mrs. Zykas is survived by her daughter Patricia (late Donald) Shepherd of Sanborn, NY and was predeceased by one son John R. (JoAnne of Michigan) Zykas. She is also survived by two grandsons, Chad A. (Christina) Shepherd and Troy C. Shepherd; four great-grandsons Isaac, Caleb, Joseph and Bentley; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Frank Trombetta and Peter (late Arlene) Trombetta; two sisters Theresa (late Ray) Zaso and Jane (late Sam) Trombetta-Astorino.
