Obituary

Jude Anthony Holka, 30, of the Town of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the cherished son of Jamie Holka and Diana Drozek Holka.

From the very beginning, Jude’s life was defined by courage. Diagnosed with brain cancer at just two years old and given little hope of surviving past the age of three, he defied every expectation. He was a miracle child in every sense, resilient and determined. Later in life, he bravely battled Crohn’s disease for more than a decade, yet he never allowed illness to dim his spirit. His positivity, strength, and faith inspired everyone who knew him.

Jude attended St. John de LaSalle School and St. Dominic Savio Middle School, graduating from Niagara Catholic High School. He went on to earn his Culinary Arts degree from the Niagara Culinary Institute.

A devout Catholic, Jude was a longtime parishioner of St. John de LaSalle Church, where he received his sacraments and proudly served as an altar server for many years. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him daily.

Growing up, Jude loved playing baseball, tennis, soccer and basketball. He remained active throughout his life, most recently enjoying weekly bowling. He also had a fondness for bingo and was known as an excellent cook. He previously worked at his brother’s restaurant, Murphy’s Café, at the Jefferson in Niagara Falls and later at Wegmans in the Town of Niagara.

To know Jude was to know kindness. He was a special soul, remembered for his gentle heart, unforgettable smile, and the way he made everyone feel seen and valued. He would do anything for anyone, without hesitation. Jude had a remarkable connection with people, especially babies, who were naturally drawn to his joyful presence. Jude’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and generosity. He touched countless lives simply by being himself, and the world is better for the time he spent in it. He will be forever missed.

In addition to his parents, Jude is survived by his brothers, Michael Murphy and Marcus (Nitzya) Murphy; his niece, Madelyn Murphy and nephew, Patrick Murphy; his loving and close paternal grandmother, Barbara Holka, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Jude was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Alfred and Rita Drozek, and his paternal grandfather Henry Holka.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 5 from 2 - 7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Jude’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 6 at 12 Noon in St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Interment will be held in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
