Obituary

Julia A. McGill Polley, 52, of Niagara Falls, NY was taken suddenly back to God on Sunday January 11, 2009 in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of Arthur W. (Sandy) McGill of Palm Beach, FL and the late Patricia (Ball) McGill.

Julia attended St. Mary of the Cataract School, Madonna High School, both in Niagara Falls, NY and was a 1974 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. She was employed at Art McGill Electric, and served as the company vice-president for the past twenty-nine years. Julie was a member and served as president for six years at the John J. Welch Post #381 American Legion Auxiliary, in Niagara Falls, NY, where she also served in the capacity of first vice president, treasurer and secretary, and was instrumental in organizing food baskets for those in need during the holiday season. Julie was a member of the VFW Post #54 where she also assisted with distribution of food baskets for the needy. She was recently elected New York State President of the "the Femmes" of the Forty & eight society of the American Legion. She served as co-chairman of the annual jamboree for Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo, NY, which she also worked on for the past thirty years. She also served on the board of the Odallum House, in Niagara Falls, NY. Julie was a lifetime parishioner of St. Mary's of the Cataract Church in Niagara Falls.

In addition to her father and step-mother, Julia is survived by three children, Karisa (Kevin) Carpenter of Lewiston, NY, Joshua Reid and Aaron Reid both of Niagara Falls, NY; three grand children, Aleigha, Avery and Abby Rose Carpenter, six sisters Patricia McGill of Maryland, Mary (Don) Zewin of Las Vegas, NV, Grace (Rick) Feldhousen of Town of Niagara, NY, Teresa (Jerry) Petre of Ivor, VA, Margaret (Steve) Pashkutz of California, Elizabeth (Larry) Browne of Las Vegas, NV; three brothers, Chuck (Barbara) McGill of Youngstown, NY, Michael McGill of California, Roderick (Missy) McGill of Lewiston, NY and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Art McGill.

Friends may call Thursday 2 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held Friday January 16, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259 Fourth Street, Niagara Falls, NY with the Rev. Michael H. Burzynski, Ph.D. officiating. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
