June M. Barone, formerly of Lewiston, NY and Margate, FL, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, after a brief illness with beloved family by her side. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Celestine (Leone) Specht.
A proud graduate of Niagara Falls High School, June built a life grounded in love and family. On September 5, 1953, she married the love of her life, Dr. Louis S. Barone, at Sacred Heart Church.
June worked for many years as a secretary at St. Leo’s Church in the Town of Niagara before she and Louis moved to Coconut Creek, FL, in 1983. There, she continued her career as a secretary at Coral Cadillac and several other automotive dealerships until her retirement. In 2019, June and Louis returned to Western New York to be closer to their children and grandchildren, a decision that brought them immense joy.
June was an excellent cook who loved watching the Food Network for inspiration. She cherished time spent at the family cabin in Friendship, NY, where countless memories were made. Above all, she centered her life around being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest happiness came from the moments she shared with her family, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.
In addition to her husband of 72 years, June is survived by four children, David John (Terie) Barone, Samuel Paul Barone, Christopher Paul (Patricia) Barone, Joel Scott Barone, and was sadly predeceased by her daughter, LuAnn Spurback and her son, Richard Louis Barone. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Geoff (Katherine) Barone, Cassandra Barone, Ryan Gaines, Shari Gaines, Jessica Barone, Jennifer Barone, Samuel Barone, Christopher Barone and Emily Barone; several great-grandchildren; her sister and best friend, Marianne (Ronald) Harkins; her dear friend, Joyce Tornambe, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. June was predeceased by one brother, Raymond (late Joyce) Specht.
Funeral services will be held privately with entombment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY to follow. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
