June Anne (Hughes) Travis, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday June 10, 2010 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada she was the daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Moss) Hughes.
June attended school in Niagara Falls, Ontario including the Niagara Falls Civil Vocational Institute High School. In 1947 she met John G. Travis and on July 9, 1949 they were married at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Following her marriage she came to Niagara Falls, NY where she lived until the present time. Mr. Travis predeceased her on April 27, 2004. She was employed as a cashier at the former Loblaw's Supermarket in Niagara Falls for over twenty five years until she retired in 1977. June and her husband were members of several area clubs and exercise classes including the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Seniors Club, John Duke Senior Center, the East Enders all of Niagara Falls, NY and the Eagle Club of North Tonawanda. They were also former members of the Moose Lodge and the former Our Lady of the Rosary Senior Club both in Niagara Falls, NY. June and her husband John also loved to go dancing and bowling together.
June is survived by one daughter Pamela J. (James E.) Hook of Niagara Falls, NY and was predeceased by one son John Edward (Jane Ball of Niagara Falls, NY) Travis. She is also survived by three grandchildren Tina (Willie) Pugh, Heather (Robert) Noworyta and James E. (Charlotte) Hook, III; nine great grandchildren Khadija, Amar and Kayla Pugh; Courtney, Logan, Travis, Sean and Leah Noworyta and Margaux Hook, one sister Corrine (late Carl) Rotella of Niagara Falls, NY; predeceased by one brother Edward Hughes. June was the sister-in-law of Lillian (late Joseph) Travis of Niagara Falls, NY and the late Catherine (late Anthony) Santora. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where services will be held on Monday June 14th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY
