Katherine F. (Gariano) LaBarber, 93, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Sunday March 31, 2013 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rosa Maria (Scalice) Gariano.

Katherine was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. She worked in the cafeteria at DuPont Chemical Co. and later as a waitress for twenty six years at the Circle Dining Room of the former Ramada Inn both located in Niagara Falls, NY. Afterwards Katherine also worked as a waitress at the former Fatsos Restaurant on Military Road. Katherine was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking and was well known for her apple squares. She also liked playing Bingo and going to the Casino. Most of all, Katherine loved her family and spending time with them.

Katherine was predeceased by her husband Stanley A. Micon in 1949 and by her later husband Chester A. LaBarber in 1973. She is survived by two daughters, Rose Marie (John) Matheson of Niagara Falls, NY and Franceen (Fabiano) Rosati of the Town of Niagara and was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen (Joseph of Niagara Falls, NY) D'Angelo. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michael (Kristin Austin) Matheson, Daniel Matheson, Maria (Joseph) Serio, Joseph D'Angelo, Anthony Charles D'Angelo, Anthony Fabian Rosati, Fabian John Rosati and Catherine (Derek) Dunstan; three great- grandchildren Isabella Matheson, Jake Dunstan and Dominic Dunstan, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by one sister Julia (late John) Bellavia, four brothers, Gary (late Lucille) Gariano, Lawrence (late Christine) Gariano, Angelo (late June) Gariano and Frank Gariano.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday April 6th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev.
