Obituary

Katherine Piercey, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2 nd , 2017 at Brookdale Niagara Assisted Living. Born in Ottawa, Canada on November 9, 1923, she was the loving daughter of the late Doris (Manson) Hurd.

Katherine moved to Niagara County as a child and graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School. On December 29,1945, she married her childhood sweetheart, Malcolm Piercey at the former Salvation Army Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Piercey soon entered the U.S. Navy from 1947-1957; and later enlisted into the U.S. Airforce until his honorable discharge in 1969, while stationed in Japan. Together they lived throughout the United States prior returning to Niagara Falls in 1987.

Katherine was employed at Moore Business Forms and the Carborundum Company as a bookkeeper prior to leaving the area. While living in Puyallup, Washington, she was also employed as a clerk for several years at a local retail furniture store. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing and singing in her Church choir.

In addition to her husband of 71 years, she is survived by her niece, Jill (George) White and nephew, Thomas Quinn, as well as many other nieces, nephews and several sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by one sister, Irene (late Paul) Bedient.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Brookdale Niagara Assisted Living for the care and compassion given to Katherine. Also, a special thank you to Katherine's "lunch girls" for the extended love and support.

Funeral services with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial offerings may be made to the Salvation Army, 7018 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
