Obituary
Ms. Kathy L. Palumbo (nee Marcolini) passed on April 10th, 2009 at age 53 of a sudden illness. Kathy was born in Niagara Falls, NY, where she resided for most of her life.
She enjoyed helping people as much as she could. This included both her private time and her ongoing career choices. Kathy assisted her churches' (St. Raphael) bereavement committee on her own time and consistently chose work along the same, helping lines. Immediately upon completing high school she worked as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. Most recently, after receiving her Master's Degree in Social Work from the State University of New York at Buffalo, she worked as a social worker assisting the disadvantaged to find jobs.
Kath, as her friends called her, also loved animals; her favorite hound dog was Elvis – her dachshund pet and companion of the last 12 years. Kath loved both to listen to jazz, classical, and blues selections and to play the piano herself.
Kath is survived by two sons. Eric Paul Palumbo; his daughter Sierra, and his soon to arrive son, Blake Thomas and her daughter-in-law Jennifer. She is also survived by her youngest son, Christopher John Palumbo. Kath will be sadly missed by her loving and lifelong friend and twin sister Kimi Abrams of Wheatfield, NY, Kimi's son, Jesse Gooch, and daughter, Serena Mullen, and brother-in-law Jan Abrams. Kathy is also survived by sister, Paulette (James) Danni and family of Seminole Gardens, Florida; her brother, Jamie (Kathy) Marcolini and family of Pendleton, NY; and mother Ellie Marcolini, of Wheatfield, NY. Kath is also survived by loving uncles and aunts and nieces and nephews. Kathy was predeceased by her father, Paul Marcolini. Kath will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Friends may call on Monday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday April 14th at 10 a.m. in St. Raphael's Church, 3840 Macklem Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Ivan Skenderovic officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
