Kenneth B. Johnson, 83 of Youngstown, NY, was called home by the Lord on Wednesday May 30, 2012 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Helge and Ingeborg (Holmberg) Johnson.
Ken served in the United States Army 2nd Infantry Divison during the Korean War from September 28, 1950 until his honorable discharge on June 29, 1952. He achieved the ranking of Corporal and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. Ken owned and operated his family business, Helge Johnson Builders which operated in the states of Illinois and Wisconsin. In the mid 1990's, he and his wife Jerre, moved to Youngstown, NY where they currently resided.
Ken's hobbies were golf, antiques, and for several years mastered the art of refinishing and repairing antique furniture for neighbors and friends. As a member of Assembly of God Church, Ken was a Deacon and head usher, always volunteering to help others.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife Jerre M. (Illichman) Johnson, two sons, Michael (Kelly) Crystal of Youngstown, NY and Richard (Debbie) Crystal of Bloomingdale, IL, and four grandchildren, Michael, Taylor, Chayse and Daniel Crystal.
Visitation will be held on Saturday June 2nd from 10:30 a.m. to 12 Noon at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin at 12 Noon with Rev. Charles Lamb officiating, concluding with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Buffalo Office 130 South Elmwood Avenue
