Kenneth P. Hernik, 76, of Lewiston, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Mercy Buffalo Hospital. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Carl and Clara Hernik; and the beloved husband of Barbara (Musilek) Hernik, who he married on October 1, 1966.

Kenneth was raised in Buffalo where he attended local schools. He served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1968. Upon his discharge, he returned home and would later move to the Niagara County area in the late 1980s with his family.

Kenneth was employed by Niagara Mohawk for many years prior to retiring in 2002. He was an active and longtime member of Niagara Area Habitat for Humanity. He was also a talented woodworker and a true jack of all trades.

Above all, he cherished the time spent with his wife and children, who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his daughters, Wendy Budziszewski and Brandee (late Craig) Norwood; three grandchildren, Dr. Gabrielle Budziszewski, Kenneth Budziszewski and Adam Budziszewski; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and son-in-law, he was predeceased by his sister, Roberta Hernik.

Visitation will be Friday, February 2 from 3 – 6:30 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 6:30 PM, concluding with Military honors. Interment will be held privately in the WNY National Cemetery, Corfu, NY. Memorial offerings may be made to the Niagara Area Habitat of Humanity, niagarahabitat.org.
