Obituary
Kenneth C. Malinowski, 64, of Lewiston, NY passed away on Tuesday February 7, 2012 at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born in Buffalo, NY he was the son of the late Chester E. and Helen F. (Walenka) Malinowski and step son of the late Lottie Malinowski.
Ken was a lifelong resident of the area and attended local schools including Buffalo State College where he graduated first in his class with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. He continued his education at Yale University in New Haven, CT and earned his Doctoral Degree in Marine Biology. Following his graduation, Ken began working as an environmental scientist in the Western New York area, and most recently as a senior environmental scientist and principal with Conestoga-Rovers and Associates in Niagara Falls, NY. On July 2, 1972 he married Rona J. (Starr) Malinowski in Rochester, NY. Ken was a member of the Niagara County Environmental Zoning Committee and served on the board of directors of the Niagara Falls Aquarium. He had a love for skiing and snowboarding, and was a member of the HoliMont Ski Club. Ken was also an avid golfer and in his younger years played amateur hockey. In his leisure time, Ken enjoyed gardening and traveling. Above all Ken, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was an adoring "Papa" to his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of thirty nine years, Mr. Malinowski is survived by his two daughters, Rachel H. (Curt) Nusbaum of Vienna, VA and Danielle S. (Joseph) Magagnoli of Springfield, VA; two grandchildren Carly R. Nusbaum and Griffin E. Nusbaum, and one brother Thomas A. Malinowski of Jamestown, NY. He was the brother-in-law of Sharon and David Cross of Tampa, FL and uncle of Daniel L. (Rhea) Cross of Boca Raton, FL; Kevin M. (Staci) Cross of Tampa, FL and Sandra Cross of Mobile, AL.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday February 11th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Michael Zuffaletto officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ellianna Grace Foundation, 90055 Horizon Drive South, Shakopee, MN 55379.
