Obituary

Lawrence J. Aceti, Sr., 71, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026, at Roswell Park Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Caruso) Aceti. Larry attended local schools and was an accomplished athlete during his youth, excelling in both football and hockey while attending the former Bishop Duffy High School. He enjoyed bowling on Friday nights with his cherished friends.

On June 21, 1980, Larry married the love of his life, Barbara L. (Alcuri) Aceti, at St. Leo's Church. Together they had their two cherished children, Barbara M. and Lawrence Jr.

Larry was employed with Laborers Local 91 for many years before retiring. A devoted outdoorsman, he found great enjoyment in hunting, fishing and playing golfing. He loved spending time at his brother in-laws cabin in the Southern Tier with family and friends. He also took tremendous pride in coaching youth sports, sharing his knowledge and passion for wrestling, baseball, and football with his son and countless other young athletes throughout the community. He was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed classic western television shows in his spare time.

Larry was a faithful patron of the Stadium Grill and their sportsman’s club. He loved being a part of their outings and annual golf tournament where he was the grill master.

He was especially known among family and friends for his homemade soppressata, earning second-place honors at the annual Como Restaurant Soppressata Dinner. He enjoyed cooking especially at the former Mister B’s, and making sausage with his beloved family which is a tradition that has been handed down to his children.

Larry was never one to sit idle. Generous by nature, Larry was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever it was needed.

Above all, Larry was a devoted family man. He treasured the time spent with those he loved and created countless memories. He also loved spending time with his dog, Gus, and his grand-cat, Gizmo.

In addition to his wife, Barby of 46 years, Larry is survived by their two children, Barbara M. (Jeffrey Martin) Aceti and Larry J. Aceti, Jr.; his cherished granddaughter, Kailani Martin; his five siblings, Samuel (Kim) Aceti, Michael (Joann) Aceti, Mary Lynn Aceti, Patrick Aceti and Christopher (Rita) Aceti, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 7 from 3:30 – 6:30 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will follow at 6:30 PM. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com online condolences.
