Leonard Longley, 88, of Lewiston, New York, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Leonard and Hilda (Scott) Longley.
A proud graduate of Niagara Falls High School, Leonard went on to enlist into the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. Leonard dedicated many years of his professional life to serving as a counselor at Niagara County Community College, where his guidance and compassion left a lasting impact on countless young people.
On December 27, 1986, Leonard married his beloved wife, Janelle (Burnham) Longley, at the Wintergarden in Niagara Falls. Together they built a life centered on love, curiosity, and family.
Leonard was a member of the Niagara Rock and Mineral Club and found great meaning in honoring Native American veterans through his volunteer work at Powwows—gatherings that celebrate and memorialize those who served in the United States Armed Forces. His deep respect for history, culture, and service shaped much of his life.
Above all, Leonard cherished time spent with his family, who brought him immense joy.
In addition to his wife, Janelle, Leonard is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Longley; his grandchildren, Lillian, Emmitt, and Tyler; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Judith (late Victor) Rossow.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 20 from 7-8 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will follow at 8 PM, concluding with Military honors. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
