Obituary

Leroy Anthony Pastore, 87, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at his residence while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Yatesville, PA he was the son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Damiani) Pastore.

Leroy was educated in Pennsylvania and moved to the Niagara Falls area at the age of seventeen. He served in the United States Army during World War II from December 20, 1943 until his honorable discharge on November 15, 1945. He was involved in the Campaigns of Rhineland and was wounded in action during battle in Germany on February 22, 1945. Leroy was awarded a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and Bronze Star. On April 10, 1948 he married Dolores N. (Costanzo) Pastore at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Leroy was employed at the former National Biscuit Company, later known as Nabisco, retiring in 1982 as environmental services supervisor following forty-two years of service. Leroy was so proud of his family and the wonderful life he had built with his wife. Most of all, Leroy was loved and respected by his children, grandchildren and all who knew him.

In addition to his wife of sixty-four years, Leroy is survived by two children, Joanne (Franklin) Frisina of New City, NY and Gregory S. (Patricia) Pastore of Grand Island, NY and was predeceased by one daughter Donna Marie Pastore. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and also was predeceased by one granddaughter.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Friday November 2nd at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
