Lillian (June) Vespa, 79, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Friday March 5, 2010 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Hamilton, Ontario she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Powell) D'Amore.
Lillian attended local Niagara Falls schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and making ceramics. She operated the Things Remembered store at the former Summit Park Mall in Wheatfield, NY. She later moved to the New Port Richey, FL area where she worked as a health care aide. Lillian returned to Niagara Falls in the late 1990's. The central aspect of her life was her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Barbara J. Palillo (Bruce Burridge) of Niagara Falls, NY and her son, Robert W. Vespa of New Port Richey, FL; four grandchildren, Matthew Porter, Jonathan, Jamie, and Kyle Vespa; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Adrianna; one brother John (Rose) D'Amore of Orlando, FL, one sister Gloria (late LeRoy) Zulke of Lewiston, NY, and many nieces, nephew, and cousins. She was also predeceased by her brother Robert (late Nina) D'Amore, and her son-in-law Former Mayor Jacob A. Palillo.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 – 7 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Stewart Lindsay O.S.F.S. officiating. Entombment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY at the convenience of the family.
