Lonnie E. Thornton, 52, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on July 1, 2021 at his residence.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Robert and Freddie Mae (Rudolph) Thornton.

Lonnie was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.  He was employed as a Housekeeping Aide at Elderwood on Grand Island for 29 years.  Lonnie loved cars and playing and watching basketball.  He will be remembered for his joking nature.

Lonnie is survived by his daughters, Martissa (Talat) Muwwakkil, Lani Ward, and Melody Ward; his grandchildren, Zaya Ward and Tahira Muwwakkil; his siblings, Vivian (late Roosevelt) Bland and Michael Thornton; the mother of his children, Melodie Ward, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Henry Lewis 'Peter' Thornton, and Fredrick (Alean) Thornton.

The family would like to thank his nephew, Michael Thornton, Jr., and lifelong friends Clifford Tabb and Tyree Cox for being by his side the last few years.
