Lorita M. (Mittiga) Valente, 81, of Lewiston, NY passed away on May 27, 2015 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Frank and Genevieve (Madida) Mittiga.
Lorita was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. On April 16, 1955 she married Francis Valente at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls, NY. She was a hall monitor at Niagara University and an extended "grandmother" to their students whose lives she had a meaningful impact on. Students and staff also looked forward to the seasonal arts and crafts she created to decorate the bulletin boards at the university. Lorita enjoyed writing poetry, Bingo and playing cards with her grandchildren. Lorita was known for her holiday parties and Sunday family dinners which will be fondly remembered and forever missed.
In addition to her husband of sixty years, Lorita is survived by three children Renee (Charles) Demski of Lockport, NY; Frank (Darlene) Valente and David (Kari) Valente both of Lewiston, NY; four grandchildren Jennifer (Michael) Amato, Alisha (Nicholas) DeSantis, Frankie Valente and Zachary Valente; two great grandchildren Gabriella and Salvatore Amato, her former daughter-in-law Debra Kobler and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister Catherine (late Carlos) Farris, two brothers Rosario Mittiga and Joseph Mittiga.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday, May 30th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
