Lorraine passed away on Saturday May, 26, 2018 at the age of 93. As a child and teenager, she was known in the area for tap dance and baton twirling skills and she danced and twirled professionally on a cruise ship that traveled between Buffalo and Detroit. She was NYS baton Twirling Champion in the 1940's and later taught tap dancing and baton twirling privately, for dance studios, and for the Niagara Falls Girls Club.
She graduated from Niagara Falls High School and the Kelley Business Institute in Niagara Falls and worked as a stenographer in a local law firm during and immediately after WW II. She was also active in PTAs at her children's schools, serving as president of the Mothers' clubs at St. Joseph's and Our Lady of Lebanon Elementary Schools and as Treasurer of the Bishop Duffy Mothers' Club. She was an active member of various area Catholic and Christian churches through the years. Her Christian faith was central to her life. Those who knew her, knew that her faith was an inspiration. She faced all of life's challenges with the grace and strength of God.
An only child, she was predeceased by her husband, John F., and son Mark Jude. She is survived by 8 children: Daniel A. (Mary), Brian J. (Barbara); Jack F. (Deborah), Karen M. Gleason (Gregory), Kevin M. (Debbie), Keith R. (Diane), Lori E. Duquette (Thomas), and James E. (Susan). She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 1st from 2 – 4 P.M. & 6 – 8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 A.M. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or SonRays Ministries, Tonawanda NY.
