Obituary

Louis S. Muraca, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Monday January 25, 2016 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Samuel A. Muraca and Rose (Disparti) Muraca and step-son of the late Margaret Muraca.

Louis was a lifelong resident Niagara Falls. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. Afterwards, he continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1960. On May 5, 1956 he married Mary E. (Centofanti) Muraca at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Muraca predeceased him on March 22, 2004. Lou worked for a brief time at Bell Aircraft in the Town of Wheatfield. In the mid 1960's he began a career that would span over 25 years as an automobile salesman for Krueger Motors. He later went on to work for Colonial Ford and retired from Muck Motors. During the 1970's Lou also tended bar at the former Switchyard in Niagara Falls.

Lou was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Church as well as a member of their St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was also a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society. Lou was a passionate New York Yankee and Notre Dame fan, and in his younger years was an avid swimmer. In his leisure time, he also enjoyed making wine and driving around town in his convertible Pontiac Solstice with license plate "Unc Lou 3".

Mr. Muraca is survived by his three children, Janis (David) Hamner, Louis J. Muraca and Lisa (Anthony) Restaino all of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren, Michael (Alyssa) Hamner, Kristen (Bill) Liszka and Anthony (fiancé Vincenza Viola) Restaino; three great-grandchildren, Natalie Liszka, Scarlett Hamner and Ainsley Hamner; one brother Ralph (Rachel) Aversa of Niagara Falls, NY; two sisters Sally Wieser of Ionia, MI and Jerri Baker of Morganton, NC; his nephew, Michael Hooper of Niagara Falls, NY and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 6th at 10 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating, and concluding with Military Honors. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY at the convenience of the family. Memorial offerings may be made to Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301. Arrangements by M.J.
