Obituary

Louis A. Vanoni, 77, of Wheatfield, NY, passed away on Thursday August 9, 2012 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Paul J. and Cinda (Alfonse) Vanoni.

Louis was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. On August 27, 1955 he married Anna Maria (Bruno) Vanoni at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls, NY. For several years, Louis worked as a stationary engineer for the Niagara Falls Board of Education. He went on to become a pipefitter at Nabisco Shredded Wheat in Niagara Falls, NY where he worked until his retirement in 1997. Louis was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of the LaSalle Sportsman's Club and 3-F Club. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Niagara Senior Travel Group and the Nabisco Retirees Club. In his leisure time Louis also enjoyed sculpting, painting and playing the piano and organ.

In addition to his wife of fifty six years, Mr. Vanoni is survived by two children, Renee (Michael) Monaco of Niagara Falls, NY and David (Jacqueline) Vanoni of Youngstown, NY; ten grandchildren , Joey A. DiDomizio, Michael Monaco, Gina (Gregory) Santoro, Joanna Monaco, Louis P. Vanoni, Vincent G. Vanoni, Daniella N. Vanoni, David A. Vanoni, Paul J. Vanoni and Lee Anna Vanoni, three great-grandchildren Nikolas Monaco, Liliana Santoro and Vincent Santoro, one sister Rose Marie Romano of Lewiston, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother-in-law of James and June Bruno of Florida and the late Joseph Bruno.

Visitation will be on Friday from 2 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday August 11th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14094.
