Louisa M. (Ferrusi) Tanzella

Louisa M. (Ferrusi) Tanzella, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility, Niagara Falls, NY.  Born in Rome, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Laura (DiRienzo) Ferrusi DeTroia.  Step-daughter of the late Adolph DeTroia.  Loving wife of Phillip P. Tanzella whom she married on July 4, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY.  Mr. Tanzella predeceased her on March 5, 1981.

Louisa moved to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with her family.  She attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School.  Louisa  worked for over 30 years at Tops Supermarkets in the meat department at the Haeberle Plaza location in Niagara Falls.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking cookies and gardening.  Louisa also loved spending precious time with family and friends as well as the company of  their dogs Annie, Layla and Bear.

Louisa is survived by daughters, Laurel (late Eugene) Cosgrove and Carol (Paul) Wright; grandchildren, Dominic (Lori) Caterina, Phillip (Angela) Caterina, Laura (Jordan Floss) Symes, Jerry Sweney and predeceased by her grandson Larry Sweney, Jr.; survivors also include step grandchildren, Christopher (Jeri) Wright and Amy (Jeff) Connors;  great grandchildren, Dominic Rocco, Joseph, Grace and Joshua and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Louisa was predeceased by siblings, Loretta (late Gene) Buffone, late Ercole (late Rondina) Ferrusi, late Mario Ferrusi and the late Anthony (Joanne) Ferrusi.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the 2 ^nd floor staff at Scholkopff Health Care Facility for the comfort and care given to Louisa.
