Lucy (Yandian) Alterio, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Tuesday October 20,2015 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center following a brief illness. Born and educated in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helena Yandian.
Lucy worked at the former Capitol Theatre in Niagara Falls, where she first met her husband, Anthony Alterio. She also worked at Super Duper and Grants Department Store in Niagara Falls. Lucy later worked as an administrative assistant at the Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce, and finally served in the foster grandmother program at the former Niagara Falls South Junior High School.
Lucy enjoyed playing cards, puzzle games, and enjoyed dinner with her friends at Applebee's. Most important to Lucy was the care and well being of her loving family, and will be remembered for her wonderful and lovingly prepared meals.
Lucy's beloved husband, Anthony Alterio passed away May 14, 1975. Mrs. Alterio is survived by five children, Anthony (Gina) Alterio, Harry (Linda) Alterio, Helene (Larry) Segal, Michele (Steven) Bower, and Philip (Janis) Alterio; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Poliachik, and Barbara (late Clair Bastian) Yandian; her long time friend, Ollie Paoli, and many nieces, and nephews. Lucy was predeceased by two sisters, Mary H. (late Kenneth) Biro, and Alice Yandian, and two brothers, Michael Yandian and Paul Yandian.
There will be no prior visitation. Private funeral services with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, 300 Ninth Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
