Luisa Volpe Colangelo, 86 of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. Born in Introdacqua, Abruzzi, Italy she was the daughter of the late Assuntino "Antonio" and Viola (Vittorio) Volpe.
Luisa was raised and educated in Italy and came to the United States in the early 1950's. She married Donato Colangelo on February 16, 1957 in Peekskill, NY. Donato passed away on December 3, 1996. Luisa was employed as a pasta and bread maker at the Como Restaurant in Niagara Falls, NY for over the past 55 years.
Luisa was a member of the Ladies Cristoforo Colombo Society, the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Volare Lodge and a member of St. Joseph's Church all in Niagara Falls, NY. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards with family and friends, bingo, crocheting and traveling all over the world. Her greatest pleasure came from cooking for family gatherings and attending her grandchildren's events.
Luisa is survived by her two loving daughters, Denise C. (Joseph) Favero of Lewiston, NY and Angela (Timothy) Colangelo Horigan of E. Amherst, NY; beloved grandchildren, Cristopher Favero, Daniel (Jackie) Favero, Deanna (Charlie) Domnisch, Andreamaria Favero, Michelle Favero, Lucas Horigan and Daniel Horigan; dear brother, Domenic (Natalie) Volpe of Peekskill, NY and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings, Panfilo (late Rose) Volpe, Lorenzo (Angie of Peekskill, NY) Volpe and late infant Giovanni Volpe.
Visitation will begin on Friday from 1-4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday October 22nd at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph's Church 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
