M. Elaine Meranto, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on June 3, 2023. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Critelli) Meranto; and beloved wife of the late Rev. Hal Faba.

Elaine graduated from Stella Niagara High School before receiving an Associate's Degree from the University of Buffalo. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from Manhattan College Riverdale and then obtained her Master's Degree in Education from Niagara University. When she was younger, Elaine worked for her parents in the family grocery store. She later worked as a Civilian Associate Office Clerk for the U.S. Army in Niagara County, and as a Rehabilitation Counselor at Opportunities Niagara.

Elaine was very active in her community and was involved with the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center in Niagara Falls alongside her husband, who was one of the founders. She acted as Commissioner of the Niagara Falls Human Rights Commissioner and was also involved with the American Association of University Women, and was very active with the Niagara Falls Little Theatre, Theater in the Mist, and the Western Door, where she enjoyed acting. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Mt. Carmel Church and sang in their Choir, as well as with the Lewiston Choraleers. She was also a co-founder of the Maranatha House, part of the Catholic Worker.

Elaine is survived by her sister, Ann Faith (Glen, M.D.) Hoversten, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Marie (Joseph) Lombardo.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 8 from 3-7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Elaine's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM in Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Ave. Niagara Falls, NY. Please assemble at church.
