Obituary
Mae (George) Grana, 80, of Lewiston, NY passed away Friday June 29, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Salem and Jamilie (Mokhiber) George.
Mae attended local schools and obtained a degree in nursing and also a Masters Degree in Business. As a registered nurse, she worked as surgical head nurse at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. She also served as former director of the operating room at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. On February 16, 1954 she married Anthony Grana in Our Lady of Lebanon Church, Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Grana predeceased her on November 26, 1999. Mae was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (Volare Lodge). She also enjoyed knitting, following the politics, and was an avid New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Grana is survived by three children David (Catherine) Grana of Grand Island, NY, Pamela (Will Wilson) Wendt of Lewiston, NY, and JoAnne (Rick) Leugemors of Snyder, NY; four grandchildren Thomas Wendt, Ryan Wendt, Sara Grana, and Anthony Grana; a brother Abraham (Ann) George of Rochester, NY and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Georgette (late George) Slaiman, George George, Margaret (late William) Schenk, Alberta (late Arthur) Raske, Betty (late Shakeeb) Brackett, Ellis (Rose of Niagara Falls, NY) George, and Janice (late Edward) Simon.
There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Tuesday July 3rd at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Church, 620 Center St. Lewiston, with Rev. Michael Zuffoletto, officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY.
