Obituary

Mamie "Mae" Chiarenza, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the loving daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna (LaManna) Schiro.

Mae was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, a graduate of Niagara Falls High School, and a former employee of Nabisco Shredded Wheat in her younger years. On October 30, 1948, she married Charles J. Chiarenza at St. Joseph Church. Mr. Chiarenza later predeceased her on December 23, 1995. Mae was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Joseph Church.

Mae's life was devoted and centered around her loving family whom she loved spending time with. She was a wonderful mother who enjoyed cooking, especially her famous chicken-soup. She also enjoyed going to the horse races with her husband and traveling to Las Vegas to visit her two sisters.

Mae is survived by her children Vincent (Mary Jo) Chiarenza, Marianne (Nicholas) Sigismondi, Lawrence (Barbara) Chiarenza, Angela (Donald) Dashineau and Charles (Laura) Chiarenza; nine grand-children, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Rose (late Rocky) Meranto, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five brothers, Thomas (late Annie) Schiro, Paul (late Zenia) Schiro, Joseph (late Mary) Schiro, Henry (Dorothy) Schiro, infant Lawrence Schiro, Jr. and one sister, Fannie (late John) Amato. Mae was also the sister-in-law of Mamie (late Anthony) Miniccucci, late Grace (Joseph) Petrozzi, late Lawrence (late Genevive) Chiarenza, late Florence (late Tony) Cheff, late Vincent (Marie) Chiarenza and late Carol (David) Donato.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1st from 3 – 8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12 Noon in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial offerings may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
