Margaret (Arzivian) Barbato, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Sunday October 7, 2012 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Haig and Zarman (Kotchian) Arzivian.
Margaret was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. On November 23, 1946 she married James P. Barbato at St. Mary of the Cataract Church. Margaret was employed by the Carborundum Company. She was a longtime active member of St. Sarkis Armenian Church, where she also served as a member of their Ladies Guild and ACYOA, a Sunday school teacher and parish council member. Margaret enjoyed entertaining at her home, and looked forward each year to hosting her annual neighborhood Christmas party. Most of all, Margaret was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them.
In addition to her husband of sixty six years, Mrs. Barbato is survived by her two daughters, Carol Kreps of Salisbury, NC, Deborah Barbato of Niagara Falls, NY and was predeceased by one son Mark Russell Barbato. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Lisa Weaver, Annmarie Kreps both of North Carolina and Mark James Barbato of Niagara Falls, NY; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Gregory, Courtney and Ben all North Carolina and Ethan Michael Weaver of North Carolina, one niece, one nephew an several cousins. She was also predeceased by two great-grandchildren Tony and Olivia Weaver; two brothers and one sister, Richard Arzivian, Shirley Schwab and Louis Arzivian.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on FRIDAY OCTOBER 12TH at 1:15 p.m. followed by services at 2 p.m. in St. Sarkis Armenian Church, 300 Ninth Street, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Fr. Serop Azarian officiating, assisted by Deacon Albert Amato. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home by Deacon Albert Amato on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Sarkis Armenian Church, 300 Ninth Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14303 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
