Margaret Corey, 90, formerly of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Sunrise of Annapolis. Born in Marlboro, NY, she was the daughter of the late Barton and Florence (Winant) Harris.
Margaret grew up in Marlboro, NY and moved to Lewiston, NY where she spent the majority of her life. She graduated from Hartwick College and worked as a RN.
Margaret was a woman of faith and served as a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Lewiston. She was a compassionate and generous woman who loved volunteering her time at Art Park, as well as the soup kitchen and Al-Anon.
Margaret devoted her life to her family and looked forward to continuing family traditions during holiday celebrations with her children. She also relished family gatherings at her family's second home on Star Lake, NY in the Adirondacks during the summer months. In her childhood years, she loved spending time with her family in New York City for Christmas and at the Wanaksink Lake Home. She was also proud of her paternal side Texas roots and the memories made in San Antonio and Lampasas.
Above all, Margaret was a mother who led by example and demonstrated unconditional love to those around her. She was also strong and independent lady that was fiercely loyal.
Margaret is survived by three children, Alexis (Bill) Gross, Martha (Nick) Fiore, Thomas (Jeanette) Corey and was predeceased by one daughter, Susan Zarrillo. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erik (Mardy) Holt, Sarah Holt, Caleb Holt, Alexis Thompson, Emily Fiore, Michael Fiore and Kathryn (Mike) Crowley; her great-grandchildren, Delaney Holt, Teagan Holt and Holden Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Barton A. Harris, MD
Visitation will be on Friday, July 8 from 5 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Margaret's funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 505 Cayuga Street, Lewiston, NY. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
