Obituary

Margaret A. DeMarco, 98, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born on July 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late M. Ward and Mildred (Boyle) Connery.

Margaret attended local schools and graduated from the former LaSalle Junior/Senior High School in 1945. She worked at DuPont for a brief time until her marriage to Joseph E. DeMarco, Retired Captain, NYS Park Police, on September 18, 1948, at St. Mary of the Cataract Church.

Margaret was a devoted member of the Mother's Club of Prince of Peace School, as well as Madonna and Bishop Duffy High School. Margaret also served as a room monitor and lunchroom aide at Prince of Peace School. For many years, she helped maintain the altar and linen with the Rosary Altar Society at Prince of Peace Church, where she was a longtime and faithful parishioner.

Margaret loved traveling with her husband, exploring the United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, Mexico, Newfoundland, and British Columbia. She also enjoyed tending her garden, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family, which meant everything to her.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, on May 25, 2013. She is survived by her children, John (Babs) DeMarco Ret. NFPD, James (Barbette) DeMarco, Mary Saunders, Joanne (Michael) Daniel, Francis (Jean) DeMarco and Robert (Michelle) DeMarco Ret. NFPD; her grandchildren, Kristen (Joseph) Maggi, Erin DeMarco, Valerie (Dr. Sebastian) Wilk, Margaret DeMarco, Maryann (Brian) Carpio, Comm. Joseph (Kim Nguyen) Daniel US Navy, John (Laura) Daniel, Joseph E. (Dr. Kim) DeMarco II Esq., Dr. Emily (Dr. Michael) Polischuk, Elizabeth DeMarco, Dr. Laura (Ilya) Ratner, Claire (John) Janiga and Margaret R. DeMarco; her great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Mya, Grace, Maria, Abigail, James, John, Philip, Ava, Eliza, Reilly, Michael, Peter, Lucille, Margaret, Amelia, Margot, James, Andrew, Isaac, Luke, Benedicta and Maxwell; her sister, Patricia (late Gerald) Van Egmond, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four siblings, Neil (late Della) Connery, Betty (late Ronald) Moss, James (late Carol) Connery and Kathryn (late Donald) (late Tom) Dutton.

Margaret's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Jackie Belton for her unwavering love, care, and compassion.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 14 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Margaret's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 15 at 10:00 AM in Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Margaret will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Joseph, in Arlington National Cemetery, privately with her family present.
