Obituary
Margaret (Oliverio) Donato, 86 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Saturday January 4, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. The youngest of 13 children, Margaret was born in Clarksburg, WV, to the late Frank and Concetta Oliverio.
She was raised and educated in Clarksburg, where she married Cosmo J. Donato on June 25, 1945. Together they moved to the NiagaraFalls in 1948 where she has continued to live until the present time. Margaret along with her husband, workedside by side at Donato's Tavern in Niagara Falls, and in January of 1963 they bought the former Hitching Post Restaurant in which they ran until herretirement in 1978. Margaret wasan outstanding cook and baker, and was known for her beef on weck. Margaret enjoyed being surrounded by her family and preparing Italian feasts for them. She especially enjoyed baking homemade bread and Italian cookies for the holidays. She cherished the times she was able tospend with her great- grandchildren who would refer to her as their Big Grandma. Margaret was also an avid reader and in her leisure time enjoyed visiting her family back to Clarksburg, WV.
Mrs. Donato was predeceased by her husband, Cosmo Donato. Margaret is survived by a son, F. David (late Carol) Donato of Lewiston, NY, and adaughter, Mary Ann (John) Broda of Youngstown, NY; three grandchildren, Michele Donato, Jeanine (Marc)Catanzaro, and Dana (Michael) Evans; four great-grandchildren, Gianna Michele Catanzaro, Matthew David Catanzaro, David Michael-Reese Evans and Caroline Alivia Evans and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her thirteen siblings.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday January 9th at 10:30 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
